Dear Potential Participants/Partners,
It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in the FIATA World Congress, to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 4-8 October 2017.
This will be the 56th occasion when the world’s logistics experts will gather to update, brainstorm, share information and speak on ground-breaking issues pertaining to the industry. Attended by decision-makers and top representatives from the various related logistics sectors, the Congress has, through the years, gained a solid reputation as a viable international platform for the exchange and dissemination of the latest and most innovative from the global logistics industry.
The theme for the 2017 Congress is: “Logistics Bridging Global Trade” – especially relevant in today’s economic climate, where the industry is required to facilitate the super-efficient movement of goods across international boundaries. As international business becomes increasingly borderless, more companies are expanding their markets into the global arena, thereby significantly increasing the demand for supply chain and logistics support. The components to success of such a facility includes an ever-increasing array of disciplines – from the influence of customs policies, worldwide legislative developments in transport, to the latest in technology, training and guidelines in security and safety. These significant issues will be addressed during the Congress, including opportunities for Regional Groups to meet and resolve local industry problems. We are anticipating a sizeable attendance from logistics-related business delegates worldwide.
We are honoured to host this important Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2017. Malaysia is a major logistics player in the Asean region – its green logistics practices and halal logistics expertise has made it a regional logistics hub. With its competitive pricing, superior infrastructure and strategic geographical position at the crossroads of Asia, it has proven to be an attractive transhipment center. Malaysia’s first-class international ports and terminals are some of the busiest in the world, with two ports listed on the Top Twenty list of World Container Ports (World Shipping Council’s World Container Ports 2013). It also offers the world’s first I-port facility – an airport within a seaport in Port Klang.
Malaysia is a well-known tourism destination, with its multi-cultural attractions in food, its people and their warm hospitality. An interesting social schedule has been planned, with a wide choice of visits to places of interest and things to do. We are looking forward to hosting over a thousand delegates in 2017.
We hope you will not miss this opportunity to be part of this exciting event, and join us in recognising and sharing the best in the logistics industry.
Sincerely,
Krishnan Chelliah & Yeoh Kean Jin
Co-Chairmen, Organising Committee
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
As President of FIATA, I am delighted to invite you to attend our 2017 World Congress in the wonderful tropical city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The economic development achieved by the Malaysian people in the past 40 years is astonishing - they have nearly eradicated poverty and built Malaysia into a highly open, upper-middle income economy. Though also affected by the global financial crisis in 2009, Malaysia has been quick to find its way back to recovery. With various advantages such as its strategic location next to the Straits of Malacca, open economy and its membership of ASEAN, Malaysia continuously promotes its economic development through international trade, which also makes it a perfect place for FIATA Individual Members from all over the world to gather and discover business potential.
This year’s FIATA World Congress will continue to add value for both Association Members and Individual Members. The gathering of the various Institutes, Advisory Bodies, and Working Groups will once again give participants cutting-edge information and ideas on our industry, while a diversity of networking sessions will enable our members to engage with business partners all over the globe in a cost-and-time efficient manner.
The video played in the 2016 World Congress serves to remind us of what a wonderful place host city Kuala Lumpur is for sightseeing and leisure.
I believe that participants will not be disappointed with the business opportunities and tropical attraction of Malaysia, as well as the hospitality of our local host, the Federation of Malaysian Freight Forwarders.
I sincerely urge you to register and participate in the 2017 FIATA World Congress and I look forward to seeing you in Kuala Lumpur.
Best Regards!
Zhao Huxiang
President of FIATA
