The Young Professionals Forum session will focus on how African universities are exploring ways to reflect the continent’s contemporary economic history in their curricula. This is reflected in the creation of the Pan-African University (APU), which serves as a network of institutions of higher learning that are focussing on creating locally relevant curricula.

Description:
Our participants will provide us their perspective of where they see our industry in the coming years and what role will the young professionals play in achieving this future.

Each participant will have 5-10 minutes to deliver a short introduction, followed by a panel discussion.

12:30pm-1:30pm Session 4 – How diverse is the transportation and logistics industry?

Description:
Diversity management continues to be a marginal strategic issue in our industry. Yet, the industry will fall short of taking full advantage of the significant benefits that gender and cultural diversity can offer. This panel will discuss how the industry can go further than the current status quo because if no modification occurs, then nothing changes. We will analyse the growing pool of talented women with sector-specific qualifications and talk about how gender equality is a vital instrument for development. In trade related interventions, taking gender equality into account not only spurs country competitiveness, but also helps obtain better outcomes.

Each participant will have 10 minutes to deliver a short introduction, followed by a panel discussion.

Description:
This session will invite tech entrepreneurs and academia to analyse how technology is impacting global logistics and creating opportunities for the young. It will showcase some of the coolest technologies and how to harnessing their capabilities and growth to reinvent the industry.

Each participant will have 5-10 minutes to deliver a short introduction, followed by a panel discussion.

Students will be learning in non-classroom environments, armed with different devices, listening to a teacher of choice. Skills will not be assessed on paper but based on their performance in the field. Education will take up different forms in the near future.
